ldikó Szallas makes handbuilt vessels that sit at the edge of landscape and philosophy — part of an ongoing practice she calls The World in Chaos. Each piece is a study in change: in the surface, in the material, in what it means to find flow within disruption.

Her answers come from many places — from clay and firing, from Hungarian roots and Norwegian belonging, from a life lived across cultures and languages, from the meeting point of Eastern and Western thought, and from an intuition that long preceded the studio — a way of reading the world that clay, eventually, gave form to.

"Ildikó Szallas handbuilt ceramic vessels – contemporary sculptural stoneware"
"Kachoufugetsu(花鳥風月), meaning to experience the beauties of nature, and in doing so learn about yourself."
